Renegade. Queen. Firebrand. Imbokodo.
These are just some of the words that describe South African women. But, South African women are not one kind of women – they are also fragile, extroverts, nurturing, brave, carefree, exhausted, and many more other things.
These words, as apt and powerful as they are, fall short of even describing the many women one woman is. South African women are an indomitable combination of grandeur and tragedy that most time cannot be described in mere words.
Womanhood is best described and represented in its embodiment.
It is fitting that as we pay homage to women, we honour a South African who celebrated all the women she was with conviction, gentleness and passion – the great Makhedama, Busi Mhlongo.
Join an evening of celebration in memory of one of South Africa’s favourite daughters.
