The big break into the media industry is not always the easiest journey for talented hopefuls, some end up giving up on their dreams of becoming entertainment stars and end up settling for passionless careers. ‘The Mzansi Arts talent showcase seeks to #OpenUpTheIndistry’ says the multitalented media personality and director of Mzansi Arts Talent showcase – Weza Matomane.
Weza Matomane has made inroads in the entertainment industry as a motivational & keynote speaker, TV presenter, skills coach, master of ceremony, voice over artist and radio DJ on Cliffcentral. ‘In the media industry agencies get hundreds of emails from talented hopefuls trying to get into their dream careers ,unfortunately their success rate is low because it is unfair and not enough to have to judge talent from an email, Weza explains. For the first time voice overs artists & stand up comedians will be invited to audition alongside models, actors, singers and dancers – Mr Matomane added.
Mzansi Arts is a platform that gives performing artists the opportunity to perform for, meet, learn from and network with industry professionals, local, continental and international scouts and agencies. This would allow artists to be identified by relevant stakeholders for further investment and development.
Mzansi Arts aims to encourage the professional advancement of talent in South Africa in all areas of performing arts. This national campaign is hosted province to province and after a successful run in KZN in June 2017, Gauteng is next in line! The city of Tshwane will be in the spot light during the 2017/2018 season and it is here at the prestigious Dance De’ Art dance centre in Hatfield Plaza, where talented hopefuls will take their first big step towards what could be the big break they have always been waiting for.
Open auditions were held on the 23 September and 14 October and the last one will be the 9th of December 2017 – those who show promising talent will be invited to show off their craft at Mzansi Arts Talent Showcase to be held on the 16th to 17th February 2018 in front of the invited industry guests ranging from educational establishment representatives, radio and television decision makers, modeling & casting agents, record labels, managers, producers and other employers of performing artists.
The 2 day Mzansi Arts Talent Showcase 2018 will have workshops, photoshoots and career guidance seminars conducted by industry professionals that will equip all attendees with knowledge of the media and entrainment industry. Some of the local celebrities that have shown their support for this initiative include dance extraordinaire Bontle Modiselle, Micasa band member Mo-T, star comedian Jason Goliath, musician and actor Batsile Ramasodi, producer and actress Rosie Motene, actor Khotso Rampho and fashion model Yonela Shenxane, musician and Eagle entertainment founders Shane Eagle & manager Vaughn Thiel to name a few.
