Beat Magazine SA Awards 2015

BEATMagazineSA is a publication devoted to what is happening in the Eastern Cape. The publication is developed by building the content like news, success stories, development updates from both public and private sector. The publication also covers important to relevant information like bursaries, employment opportunities and work closely with business development institutions with the aim to strengthen the economy.

BEATMagazineSA was founded in the East London on the 14th November 2011, and officially launched on the 1st March 2013 at Italianissimo, East London. The magazine founded its position in the Eastern Cape and South African market online with a unique content strategy, targeted at building credible information about the Eastern Cape Province which attracted a number of organisations to support the publication due to its nature.

The BEATMagazineSAAwards structure consists of 14 categories that will grow as the experience and time goes.

Performer of the Year

This award recognizes the best performance of the year from artists who made an appearance to public events and performed in front of crowds within a period of twelve months. The public has the right to nominate and vote for the award.

I Am Eastern Cape Award (Honoree Award) – [Not open to public]

This award recognizes Eastern Cape born heroes and legends whose image aligns to the province. This personally is expected to carry the Eastern Cape to the country, as they will be brand ambassadors of the awards. Therefore, this award is to honor them for their success and contribution to the development of the Eastern Cape brand.

Fashion Brand of the Year

This award recognizes the work done by fashion designers/vanity clothing brands within a period of twelve months in making sure that the Eastern Cape fashion industry continues to grow. This category is open for nomination and nominees will be expected to submit profiles as well as their references to be considered for a nomination.

Event of the Year

This award is open to appreciate the time and efforts of organisations in creating platform for entertainment development and promoting Eastern Cape as an events Mecca. These events have to be hosted in the past twelve months, by an Eastern Cape organisation or individuals in order to be considered for a nomination.

University of the Year [Not open to public]

This award recognizes an Eastern Cape university that graduated the most number of students from the previous year. This award is given to the university to honour their contribution towards the development of professionals, skills development as well as education in the province and the country. This category is not open to the public for nomination.

Radio Show of the Year

This award will be presented to the biggest radio show in the Eastern Cape in terms of listeners and votes combined due to the size and reach complexities of radio stations. RAMS will be collected and the best top 3 radio shows in the Eastern Cape will make it to nomination where the public will vote for the best radio show. Therefore, radio stations need to promote and market their campaigns to get more listeners to vote for them as well as to attract new listeners.

Radio Personality of the Year

This award will be presented to the best radio personality in the Eastern Cape nominated by the public. Therefore, radio personalities need to encourage their listeners to vote for them as well as to attract new listeners.

Best Comedian

This award will be presented to main stream comedians who promote themselves in the Eastern Cape and beyond it, will be nominated and voted by the public. Eastern Cape comedy is growing on a steady pace and this initiative shall contribute in numbers.

Best Female Artist of the Year

This award will be presented to the busiest solo female recording artist within a period of twelve months, defined by a number of events attended throughout the year. This simply means only active artists are legible to be nominated in this category and a least of one SAMRO registered song to be added on the nomination list. This category is open to the public for nomination.

Best Male Artist of the Year

This award will be presented to the busiest solo male recording artist within a period of twelve months, defined by a number of events attended throughout the year. This simply means only active artists are legible to be nominated in this category and a least of one SAMRO registered song to be added on the nomination list. This category is open to the public for nomination.

Project of the Year (Album/EP/Mixtape)

This award will be presented to a music project that is deemed to be the best project within a period of a year. This will be evaluated based on rating score by both the public and the judges.

DJ of the Year

This award will be presented to the busiest club dj within a period of twelve months, defined by a number of events attended throughout the year. This simply means only active club dj’s are legible to be nominated in this category. This category is open to the public for nomination.

Promoter of the Year

This award will be presented to the best promoter within a period of twelve months, defined by a number of events created to promote any form of art throughout the year. This simply means only active promoters are legible to be nominated in this category. This category is open to the public for nomination.

Best Community Radio Station of the Year

This award will be presented to the biggest radio station in the Eastern Cape in terms of listeners and votes combined due to the size and reach complexities of radio stations. RAMS will be collected and the best top 5 radio stations in the Eastern Cape will make it to votes where the public will vote for the best radio station. Therefore, radio stations need to promote and market their campaigns to get more listeners to vote for them as well as to attract new listeners.
