Connected’ calling for participants between 13 & 19 of age

‘Connected’ is an international theatre and digital arts collaboration between Well Worn Theatre (SA) and Told by an Idiot (UK) as part of SA-UK seasons. The partners are looking for up to twenty young people between the ages of 13 and 19 to take part in an exciting play-making and digital arts project in October and November of 2015.

If selected, participants will embark on a month long devising project, attending professional theatre workshops led by experienced facilitators every Saturday afternoon in October. These workshops will be conducted simultaneously in both SA and the UK via an online rehearsal room and will culminate in a final live and filmed performance in Jo’burg in early November.

Participants will need to be available for ALL of the following Workshop dates and times:

Saturday October 3rd – Session 1 (12-5.30pm)
Saturday October 10th – Session 2 (12-5.30pm)
Saturday October 17th – Session 3 (12-5.30pm)
Saturday October 24th – Session 4 (12-5.30pm)
Saturday October 31st – Session 5 (12-5.30pm)
Saturday November 7th and Sunday 8th – Session 6 (9am to 5.30pm)
Final Performance: 13th November (2pm to 10pm)

The Jo’burg workshops and performance will be held at the NSA Theatre at the National School of the Arts in Braamfontein. The UK workshops will be held at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry. Both workshops will connect via a live, virtual rehearsal room where the participants will be able to share ideas, play improvisation games and co-devise a story together across continents.

Participants will receive lunch and travel money (every Saturday) for their participation in the workshops. They will also receive free access to the internet for all the Saturday Sessions and have the opportunity to discover how social media and other online sharing platforms can support the arts and the play-making process. As well as this, participants will receive exposure to the arts via a high profile, international theatre-making project as part of the SA-UK Seasons 2014 & 2015 Joint Projects Programme.
