Call For Entries: Gqom, hip hop beat battles

The Music Imbizo is calling on interested gqom and hip hop beatmakers to submit their music for selection at this year’s beat battles at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa, from 28 to 31 August.

The call is open to delegates of the music conference. Applicants must be in possession of a ticket to take part in the competition and they should send two original beats/instrumentals not longer than two minutes and without lyrics.

Application process

Applications should be done online:

Submit music for the gqom beat battle here.
Submit music for the hip hop battle here.
The entry deadline is 15 March.

Terms and conditions

Successful artists must be available during the Music Imbizo from 30 to 31 August.
Artists must be in position of a delegate pass (only delegates can battle).
Artists agree that their profile will be added to the Music Imbizo website, conference programmes, press releases and social media.
