SABC 3 is excited to announce that the search for three industry leading marketing talents to represent South Africa’s number one retail bank, Capitec, is now underway. By adding a unique spin to the compelling reality TV format, The Next Brand Ambassador is set to bring a new level of must-watch insight into the world of becoming a relevant influencer that truly adds value, as well as building your personal brand.
The ultimate prize: a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to work with Capitec’s marketing team in the bank’s Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town regional office.
Adding A New Twist To Reality TV
The call for entries to The Next Brand Ambassador launched yesterday (8 July) and you can follow its step-by-step instructions below. Briefly, it asks aspiring contestants to submit their CVs by WhatsApp along with a video of no more than 60 seconds showcasing who they are, where they are from and the one-of-kind qualities that make them The Next Brand Ambassador.
After whittling the national entries down to 10 regional finalists from Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town respectively, the judges will eventually send 12 national finalists to a dedicated house in the Mother City for the rest of the series. From here, participants will be tasked with tackling a series of challenges that are specifically designed to test whether they have the persona, quirky creativity and skillset to excel at promoting South Africa’s number one retail bank. The series will run for 13 episodes and the three winners will be revealed in a grand finale broadcast live on 7 November.

Judged By The Best
The contestants will be judged by some of the most respected and influential professionals in the business. The judging panel will be headed by Odette van der Haar, CEO of J. Walter Thompson Johannesburg and arguably the most influential woman in SA advertising and marketing. During her 11 years as head of SA’s Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA), for example, Odette transformed the Apex Awards into a global brand that also distributes life-changing educational bursaries to the industry’s rising young home-grown stars.
The other members of the judging panel – specifically selected for their cred as celebrity influencers or marketing experts – will be announced shortly.
