The Colorado Prize for Poetry is an international award for book manuscripts. It was founded in 1995.

The Colorado Prize for Poetry believes that talented minds should get the opportunity to reach their audience and aims to connect writers and readers by publishing exceptional writing. The competition is organized by Center for Literary Publishing at Colorado State University.

Center for Literary Publishing’s mission is to publish contemporary short fiction, poetry, and nonfiction. They also offer graduate students opportunities to learn about literature. The students can participate in literary publishing through a professional internship as well.

The Center was established in 1992 and is housed in the English Department at Colorado State University.

Colorado State University was founded in 1870 and is now among the nation’s leading research universities. Since then, more than 230,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees have been graduated at Colorado State, including more than 6,000 in 2011-2012. 184,586 living alumni are active in 27 geographic alumni groups representing 17 states (4 in Colorado and 23 out of state) and 16 common interest groups.
