Zenus, Zama Nandi Nala, is a singer and rapper. Zenus was born on the 26th of June in the year 1996, she was raised in the east of the Johannesburg city and moved to the East rand when she was 15 years old.
Zenus’ father the late Ikhansela was a musician in the category of an African genre called uMaskandi. Zenus discovered her musical talent or rather her vocal talent late in the year 2006 when she was in grade 4, she didn’t explore the talent until she was in high school where she joined choirs and musical ensembles. Upon leaving high school, she tried making music in her tertiary years at Damelin collage Braamfontien Johannesburg, however didn’t get far with that.
She later became acquainted with an artist, producer and DJ, by the name TreeZ, who has worked with the likes of Jub Jub, Dj C-Live, Mad on dough and Sbu from TKZee to name a few.
Upon working with Treez in 2017, Zenus released a song titled “”Sunshine”, by Chaotic deep,( a house DJ and photographer) featuring treez and Zenus, the song has a feel good element as well as a house element. Zenus has also worked with Jub Jub and upcoming artists such as Mreyza harris from Durban who does music in the Qgom genre and lwazzy best known for her song “Tsiri Tsiri”.
ZENUS – TAKE A LOSS
The musician has recently released a rap song, titled “Take a loss”, this was the artists first attempt at rap, however the rap community has received the song well. The song is a trap joint inspired by international female rappers, Nicki minaj and Cardi B, the song speaks to women, having had her own issues with her self-esteem this was the musicians affirmation of power and she hopes to communicate the same message to other women.
